Crash Test and Fine Dining

Today our adventures in Sweden started off with visiting Volvo cars here in Gothenburg, this was by far a high mark for our trip, not only being able to visit such a large global presence as Volvo, but the experiences we had there many of us will be remembering for a long time to come. The trip was amazing for two parts, first the crash test and our tour guides. They both are how we love our Swedes friendly and funny. They quickly became some of our favorite people we have met here in Sweden, and personally the level of joy and laughs Morgan brought. He definitely made that plant tour the best one I’ve ever been on and will be hard to top.

We went to watch a new model Volvo go through a Crash test, it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. We got a brief lesson on the rigid standards that a safety test is held too and the intense steps that go in to evaluating the results of it. We also got to know some history of Volvo and their goals of the future to have no one severely harmed or killed in an accident involving a Volvo.

To end our day at Volvo we got a tour of their factory floor and got to see an in-depth look at the production of their models. The output and cool factor was second to none, it was definitely a world class factory, and was a welcome change to see the level of satisfaction and just how happy the workers were at their jobs.

Good news mom I ate my vegetables, well sort of. We cooked many wild flavor combinations tonight, my favorite ingredient was an apple leather we made, it is apple and spices that are ground down and spread thin then baked, it had a very strong flavor that had the long pepper coming out extremely well.

Good news we got the eats! Tonight we went to a cooking school, we had a four coarse meal full of everything exotic that you could think of , from a whipped potato base to a caviar berry scallop drizzle. We need to give a special thanks to chef Michael and Daniel

Possibly my favorite dish of the night besides the reindeer was the dessert. The center treat was a sour cream sorbet and a popped rice with a sort of cinnamon cake and nuts.

MATT’S DAILY TAKEAWAYS

  • I do not like pickled cabbage.
  • Volvo is such a cool place.
  • The trailer hitches on the back of cars in Europe look very odd.
